Cleveland ISD Recognizes Texas Safe Schools Week

CLEVELAND, Texas, October 19, 2026: Cleveland ISD joins school districts across the state in recognizing Texas Safe Schools Week, a time dedicated to highlighting the shared responsibility of creating safe, supportive, and secure learning environments for every student and staff member.

School safety is a responsibility we all share. Keeping our schools safe requires strong partnerships among students, families, educators, administrators, law enforcement, first responders, mental health professionals, and community members.

While Texas Safe Schools Week provides an opportunity to highlight these efforts, safety remains a priority in Cleveland ISD every day.

“Creating safe schools requires all of us working together,” said Cleveland ISD Superintendent Dr. Glenn Barnes. “Our students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and cared for. We are grateful for our staff, families, law enforcement partners, first responders, and community members who work alongside us every day to help protect our students and schools.”

Throughout the district, Cleveland ISD continues to emphasize preparedness, prevention, communication, and strong relationships as essential components of school safety. Students and families also play an important role by reporting concerns, following campus safety procedures, and helping maintain a culture where everyone looks out for one another.

During Texas Safe Schools Week, the district encourages families to talk with their children about the importance of school safety, including speaking up when they see or hear something concerning and immediately reporting potential safety issues to a trusted adult or appropriate school personnel.

The Texas School Safety Center is also sharing resources and information throughout the week to help schools and communities strengthen their safety efforts.

Texas Safe Schools Week serves as an important reminder that creating safe schools is not the work of one department, campus, or individual. It takes all of us.

Cleveland ISD remains committed to working Forward Together to provide learning environments where every student and staff member feels safe, supported, and ready to succeed.
