Children who are 4 years old on or before September 1, 2023, and meet eligibility requirements may register for PreK. PreK registration is processed at the elementary campus to which the student is zoned.

To participate in CISD’s Prekindergarten Program, a child must be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year AND meet one of the following criteria:

Limited English Proficiency: the child is unable to speak or comprehend the English Language. This determination is based on results of state mandated testing completed by the English Learner department.
Educationally Disadvantaged: the child would be eligible to participate in the National Free and Reduced Lunch Program (based on family’s gross income)
Homeless: the child is homeless
Child of an active duty of the Armed Services of the United States
Child of a member of the Armed Services who was injured or killed while on active duty
Child has been under the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing.
Is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as:

• a peace officer under Section 3106.002, Government Code;

• a firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code;

• an emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code

• Birth certificate

• Proof of residence (current utility bill with parent/guardian’s name and address)

• Social Security card of the child

• Identification document of parent/guardian enrolling the student

• Current immunization records
