From September 15 through October 15, Cleveland ISD will join communities across the nation in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and recognizing the history, culture and achievements of Hispanic Americans.

This year, Cleveland ISD’s Facebook celebration will focus on an inspiring message for every family: Every remarkable person was once a child with hopes, talents and a future waiting to be discovered.

Throughout the month, the district will highlight influential Hispanic figures, including artists, entertainers, leaders and changemakers, by sharing their childhood photographs, interesting facts, memorable quotes and the stories behind their accomplishments.

Each Monday followers will get a sneak peek at the childhood photo of the week’s featured individual and will be invited to guess who the child grew up to become. The answer will be revealed on Tuesday through a special Heritage Spotlight post celebrating that person’s life, contributions and lasting impact.

By beginning with their childhood pictures, Cleveland ISD hopes students will recognize something of themselves in these extraordinary individuals. A child sitting in one of our classrooms today could become the next groundbreaking artist, respected leader, innovative thinker or history-making trailblazer.

Hispanic Heritage Month also provides an opportunity to celebrate the students, families, employees and community members whose cultures, traditions and experiences enrich Cleveland ISD every day.
