Esteem Journey

The State of Texas requires school districts to provide health instruction that supports students in developing lifelong, health-promoting behaviors. In alignment with this requirement, the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) has recommended—and Cleveland Independent School District has approved—the Esteem Journey curriculum as the district’s health education program.

Esteem Journey is an evidence-based, medically accurate, and proven effective curriculum that aligns with the Texas Health TEKS and supports students’ academic, social, and personal development.

Parent Engagement Matters

Research shows that when parents are actively involved in their child’s decision-making skills, students demonstrate stronger behavior, higher academic achievement, and improved social skills. Parent engagement also increases the likelihood that children and adolescents will make healthy choices and avoid risky behaviors.
