COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

Cleveland ISD has been closely following the State of Texas and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about the COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
Much is being learned about this newly emerged virus. Based on the current information, health officials are recommending local communities and schools should take the same steps to protect against COVID-19 as we take to prevent the spread of everyday illnesses like the common cold or the flu:
    •    Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
    •    Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    •    Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    •    Stay home when sick.
    •    Cover the mouth and nose with the inside of the elbow when coughing or sneezing.
    •    Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

WHAT DOES INSTRUCTIONAL CONTUNUITY MEAN

“Instructional Continuity” is a phrase introduced by the Texas Education Agency that refers to the development of a specific plan to address “high absenteeism or school closures for short-term or long-term periods of time.” Here in Cleveland ISD, we have been providing instruction in the form of take-home and online packets.  As we continue to receive more guidance from the Texas Education Agency and assess our communities access to Internet, the district will continue to intoduce and expand our online delivery of instruction.  Througout the process, Cleveland ISD is working to ensure our students, families, and staff remain safe and healthy in a time of significant disruption. The district is attending to our students and our community’s basic needs first while developing and distributing resources for engaging students in learning activities.
