Fine Arts Experience
Elementary
Elementary school students receive art instruction beginning in Pre-Kindergarten. The Pre-K through 5th grade program develops students’ visual literacy skills by using creativity to create original works of art. Student artwork is displayed at several campus and district events throughout the year, such as the Rodeo Art Show and the District Fine Arts Festival. These shows are designed to showcase students’ classroom learning and celebrate students’ creativity.

The Pre-K through 5th grade music program is designed to teach methods while instilling a lifelong love of music in our students. Our students are challenged to express their own creativity and master music skills through a variety of styles.
Middle School
This middle school art program is designed to foster creativity, imagination, and self-expression in students. Through a combination of hands-on art projects, group discussions, and critiques, students will explore a variety of artistic mediums, techniques, and styles. Throughout the program, students will learn the fundamentals of art, including color theory, composition, and perspective, and they will have the opportunity to create their own original works of art.
The middle school band program is a great way for young students to learn and improve their musical skills while having fun and building relationships with their peers. Students typically begin by learning the basics of music theory, note reading, and instrument care. As they progress, they'll have opportunities to perform in concerts, festivals, and other events both inside and outside of school. They'll also be encouraged to participate in band competitions and to work towards earning honors and awards. With the support of dedicated teachers and parents, middle school band programs inspire creativity, discipline, and a love of music that can last a lifetime.
Twirling
The twirling line is a group of dedicated and talented students. The team practices after school each week to perfect their routines. They perform at football games, parades, and competitions throughout the school year, always striving to impress the judges and the audience with their grace, precision, and creativity. Along the way, the team members learn valuable skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and leadership, while also making lifelong friends and having lots of fun.
The middle school choir program is a vibrant and energetic group of young students who love to sing and perform. This program allows students to explore their passion for music and hone their vocal skills through regular rehearsals and performances. The choir director works with the students to choose and practice a diverse range of musical pieces, from classical to contemporary and helps them to develop their technique and musicality. The choir often performs at school events and concerts. Students in the choir program not only gain valuable musical experience, but also develop confidence, teamwork skills, and a love for the arts that will last a lifetime.
Dance classes provide students of all levels of experience with the opportunity to explore some of the basic movement fundamentals: world dance, modern, and choreography. Students learn dance technique and kinesthetic awareness, movement vocabulary, choreography, creative expression, musicality, and dance history. Some students also serve as members of the Royalettes Dance Team. Membership in the dance team is a full year commitment that includes performances at multiple competitions within the district and surrounding communities.
The theater program provides a unique opportunity for students to explore the world of performing arts. Through engaging productions, students learn about the different aspects of theater such as acting, directing, stage design, costumes, and lighting. They also develop their public speaking skills and confidence as they perform in front of an audience. The program offers a supportive and inclusive community where students of all backgrounds and abilities can come together to create something special. By participating in a middle school theater program, students gain valuable life skills and memories that last a lifetime.
High School
The high school art program provides students with the opportunity to explore their creativity and develop their artistic skills. Students are encouraged to communicate their thoughts and ideas through art-making and find paths to self-discovery through art. Drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics are just some of the projects a student can be involved in. Students have many opportunities to display their artwork at campus art shows, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Art Show, and the spring District Art show.
High school band students learn to prepare and perform music through a variety of performance opportunities including marching band, concert band, jazz band, small ensemble and solos. Students develop a mindset of pursuing excellence in both individual and group endeavors in a healthy and positive environment. The Cleveland Band has earned multiple awards in both marching and concert band.

The Choir and Vocal Ensemble classes provide students with the opportunity to work on a variety of musical performing styles and techniques and to improve self-expression through vocal performance activities. Classes include CHS Chorale, Glee Club, A capella Choir, Women’s Choir, and Men’s Choir.

Under the guidance directors, students can gain confidence in their abilities while learning about the history and techniques of theater. With a focus on teamwork and collaboration, theater provides a supportive environment in which students can express themselves and build lasting friendships. From rehearsals to performances, a high school theater program encourages students to work hard and embrace their unique talents. Whether they are interested in acting, directing, stage design, or backstage production, students can find their niche in the exciting world of theater.
